I've been without a shop for the last two years (and it will be some time before the new one is set up), so I haven't been doing much. Hopefully in the new year, I'll be checking in here more often and eventually have something to add to discussions again.

I just want to wish you all happy holidays and hopes that the new year treats you all well. What kind of projects do yo all have lined up?

For me, I am waiting for spring to get the new sliding doors installed in my shop space. I hope to install floors late January. Then I can start moving in the workshop stuff and setting up! The next thing will be sorting out where I left off on my half built curly white oak double O.

NIce tute! I like the stepped width idea. I do mine a little different in that I clamp in the first (segmented) layer unglued, then glue layers 2 and 3 over them (not gluing to the reinforcements). Once it is cured, I take the linings out (since they aren't glued to the rim) and plane the inside flat/flush. Then they snap right back in place with glue. Since I plane mine flat, linings have a squarish profile. With your method, I could plane them flush but keep that angle on the inside giving a profile kinda' like more traditional kerfed linings.
