...your dust collector bags look like -this-!
These are 24" x 48" "bags", BTW.. Both bottom ones were full, but it gets better... Yup, the upper bags began to fill, too, but I didn't notice until I had removed the bottom ones!
Can you say "messy"?, boys and girls....? <lol>
Do as I say, not as I do..... Check them there bags!

When I had bags, the performance of the collector would start to go down when the bottom bag was half full. That gave me incentive to empty. I hated the emptying so much that I bought a large 1 micron filter to replace the top bag and started using a clear plastic bag on the bottom. The filter was way worth it. The volume the collector would pull about doubled. And, it's a lot easier to empty.

I've not found 24" diameter filters... Would love to find some! No room for a cyclone separator, either....
My dust collector is actually so oversized for my needs that I really don't notice when the bags fill, and in fact when the bags begin to fill up nicely is when they also begin the cake-over enough that they produce very, very little fine dust. Since I'm doing a full-on cleaning of them this time, I'm expecting to see a lot of fine dust this summer...
I typically only need to empty them once a year(only dust goes to it, no planer or jointer chips), in the fall, usually, but I've had a rather productive winter, it appears!

All righty then..... What 'cha do with all that dust when it needs to be tossed? I live in the mountains and am reluctant to dump it out in the back 40.

Owners of big shaggy dogs have been known to save bags of shed fur, spin it into yarn and make sweaters out of it -- I think Mother Earth News back in the 70s and 80s carried articles on that topic.
What about mixing that dust with a bunch of glue, making your own MDF out of it, and rolling out a line of from-scratch old family recipe Danelectros? Instead of Masonite, call the stuff "Mariolis" or something.
Certainly beats a sweater made from a Collie's tuchas.
