Any builders here using Assilex or Bufflex sanding material on their finishes? I just got some Assilex today and it is a pretty awesome product for sanding nitro and waterborne. Especially good because no need for soap and water. Since I'm new to it's use, and there are quite a few grits in the product line, just wondering what grits people might be using prior to buffing finishes. It is expensive, which will stop a lot of folks from buying it, but I think it is good stuff. Thanks, Bob

I love Assilex and I have 800 up to 1500 grit. I also use Abralon pads and have it in 2000 and 4000 grit. Sanding to 4000 grit makes buffing incredibly easy. I use a bit of soapy water with the Abralon.

Another good new sanding product is the Kovax Tolecut sanding film that comes in 1"x1" sticky back squares. They’re great for leveling small finish touchups or drop fills and not creating what I call the volcano effect; where you remove a ring of the existing finish around the drop fill you’re trying to level. Here’s a link to what I’m talking about.
