Side Port For Real

Post by Eric Knapp »

Well, OK. I held my breath and did a sound port with binding on guitar number 3. I am going to use rosewood for the binding so I did that for the port too. The black veneer is not super visible here but will probably stand out more with the final finish.

I think is looks good enough for this one. I'm planning on using maple for the guitar 4. I was nervous about this and finally had to realize that this is not a pre-war Martin, it's just something I made and if I screw it up I can always make more rims. I'm glad I can breathe again!

Now that work is clean. Well done!

You just can't beat rosewood or ebony to hide all our flaws.

Thank you, Barry. Hiding flaws seems to be the nature of the craft, eh? The more flaws I make the better I'll get. 😎
