RIP, Andreas Barth

Post by Charlie Schultz »

I received this sad note today- Andy was a valued member here for many years.
Andreas Barth, Andy of Willow Guitars has passed away. He had pancreatic cancer, and passed painlessly and peacefully at our home on Thurs April 12th.
The forum was so very important to him, and I know there are people whom need to know.

Oh my, that was sudden. Last I'd heard from him he was unwell but still undiagnosed. My thoughts are with his family. He will be sadly missed.

That is shocking and sad news to me! Andreas was a friend and fellow staff member for years here, we go way back to before he was a staffer and even though I never met him he was a good friend....a tip of my hat, and a sad bend of the guitar string to you Andreas, my thoughts are with your family!

What terrible news to find here after a few days away. Andy was a MIMForum staffer for over a decade, and he built some of the most bizarre and imaginative guitars I've ever seen (http://www.willowguitars.ca/guitars.htm). I am very sorry to hear that he's gone.

I extend my sympathies to the family.

I feel the loss also, although I had never personally met him.

It makes me appreciate the members of the forum and friendships we share here.

A shock to me as well. I've seen his posts for years now.
Very sad, but his instruments will live on - alive and singing.

Such sad news! Two forum friends lost in about as many years. Y'all stop that! Andy was a great contributor here, both as an innovative luthier and long-timer staff member, and he will be sorely missed. My sincerest condolences go out to his family, and they should take comfort that he touched so many people over the years with his selfless sharing.

This leaves me speachless, almost as much as his instruments did.

A super nice guy and great builder. We had some good email discussions about his electric resonator and slide guitar playing.
RIP Andy.

Just returned from a trip to learn this sad news. Andreas' creations stood out to me as very special. Like all here, I'll miss his influence.
