Dombra

This is my first dombra. I invested a lot of effort into figuring out how to build this using more or less traditional methods, and I'm planning to make more. The seven piece back is local Maine cherry. The top is Maine spruce. The neck is a pine/maple lamination with a cherry fingerboard. The ornamentation on the top is walnut and curly maple veneer. The top edge binding is a strip cut from left over Goncalo Alves flooring.

Although normally dombra frets are all tied from one continuous piece of line, I elected to tie individual frets in the same manner as a lute.

Now to figure out how to properly play this thing!
