High Resistance Low output

Post by Andrew McSpadden »

I have a single coil that has a resistance of 500+ K Ohms and weak output but there is output. What could be the problem?

It is not degaussed and not a phase issue. This is the pickup by itself.

Thanks!

When you say 500+k, is there an actual DC resistance value, or is that just as high as you can measure? I'd guess the wire is broken, and you're getting some AC signal through inductive coupling, or a high resistance leak through thin or worn insulation. I think you'll have to unwind it to find the problem.
Maybe I can't fix it, but I can fix it so no one can fix it

Found the start was not full connected and could not get a connection due to the wire not being long enough to make it into the grommet. Rewind! It was an old SD2 from the 80's

THanks!
