A child's size oud

If it's not a guitar or a bass guitar discussion, and it's got strings, put it here.

A child's size oud

Post by Jo Dusepo »

This was for a customer in the USA who wanted an oud suitable for their 10-year-old to learn on. Scale length of 45cm.
Here's the finished instrument:

Very Nice!
I had an old oud that had a non-wood rose (early plastic? glue coated parchment?) added to the back side of the soundboard rather than an integral one. Were you going to do that with this one?

I left this one with open soundholes, because I prefer that sound and it's designed for a child, so might get knocked around a bit in the future.
I have put rosettes in some of my ouds, but I do prefer the more open sound.
