3D Printed Rackett

Post by Ben Sanders »

I recently designed and printed a Rackett (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4603388) that I wanted to share. It is based of a drawing in "The Amateur Wind Instrument Maker" by Trevor Robinson. The reed is one I made out of plastic packaging material.

Is anyone here aware of other sources of designs for Racketts?

Thank you!

Very cool! I've always wanted one. Maybe I can print one at the library now.

Here's another guy trying to 3D print racketts, with links to modeling software and historical info.

That paper mentions that the Toronto Consort put out a A step-by-step guide to the construction of a Renaissance rackett which might be helpful if you can find a copy.

I have come across references to that book, but have not found any way to get my hands on it. (My library's larger-scale inter-library loan program is offline for a while.) I will email that other person and see if they have more information. I did find someone on YouTube that also printed one, but couldn't find where they ever shared their model.

Thank you for your response!

Also, I should add that there have been several interesting designs recently posted to https://www.reddit.com/r/3dprintedinstruments/

Cheers!

Robinson's book is available on Amazon as a used book for reasonable prices. It is a book worth getting.

Yes, I have Robinson's books. It is the Toronto Consort's book that I can't find.
