$100 Local Materials Challenge,Sam Hartpence Wyoming Beetle Bass
Not much to post yet, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling. I should have my materials finalized and accumulated by next weekend.

- Wyoming "Bug Wood" or Beetle Killed Pine. The Beetle introduces a fungus that causes the blue streaking.

I've always wondered why there wasn't much of a market for this stuff. I think it'd make a great PineCaster.

I like the streaks! My folks are next door in Idaho and they regularly get beetle-kill pine for firewood. If there was a market for this stuff, there would be plenty (unfortunately)!

My hope is that perhaps this build will create a bit of a market for it. I'm not sure how common this stuff is outside of the mountain west, but I love the figure. I may use some green streaked poplar for the neck as well...still brewing on that one.

I really like that wood. I use 100 year+ heart pine alot of times for T-Type builds. I've actually just finished up with one this past week....just waiting on it to cure. I've also used a highly-highly figured hickory for alot of tops which is another unorthodox wood. Point is, I'm kinda partial to breaking away from the mainstream and trying out different woods so I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

I'm looking forward to it too...but full disclaimer. I have started a few projects, but have yet to finish one. So this may turn out to be "by comity"

I've made quite a bit of progress, but had a surgery this last week and it looks like i'm taking myself out of the competition. No way I can work diligently enough to get this done. I'll post when it's done.
