Archtop side thickness

Post by Enrico Schiaffella »

Hello Everybody,
I just started the project of building an archtop according to Benedetto. In his book he says to bend maple sides 3/32 thick. That is 2.4 mm. It is very thick in my experience. I usually bend 2 mm sides for my classical guitars. 1.9 mm bend even easier. I just would like to get an opinion from you. The cutaway area sounds especially difficult to bend at that thickness.
Thanks

I've used 2 mm on mine, and thinner in the cutaway areas.
