Does the library search work for you?

Hi all,
I've had a couple people say that the library search doesn't work ("waiting on mimf"). If you could check it out and let me know if it works for you, I'd appreciate it. It is located here: viewtopic.php?p=18277#p18277

If it does not work, please let me know what happens and what browser you're using, thanks.

Both work for me, and are reasonably quick. Firefox pops up a security dialog: "The information you have entered on this page will be sent over an insecure connection and could be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to send this information?" and I have to confirm before it will search on either. Chromium (open source Chrome) does not put up the warning. Maybe some browsers think the page is too insecure, depending on the user's settings.

Works for me on Firefox with the same security box. I'll be sure not to search for porn.

I'm using duck-duck-go for the search engine.

For both the old and new libraries I tried searching with quotation marks and the plus/minus signs. This came up “no matches found” in both libraries. I tried the example given “archtop*”... etc with no results.

Both libraries gave (a lot of) results with just the words typed in without modifiers.

Just tried again with windows 7 Pro [I know, but I hate 10 ] and Explorer and all searches hang up not returning anything back, just endlessly twiddling their thumbs in the ozone...

Hey Randy, I found this suggestion on the web, maybe you can try it and let me know.

Go to "Internet Options" and then to "Content" and click on "Clear SSL state".

I searched with Chrome and both links went to the search engine. I typed in a topic and it came up quickly.

The search works for me with a "but".

When I do the first search it seems to hang up. Looks like it is not working at all. Eventually, feels like "forever" (maybe 1 min + ) the results get displayed. I actually gave up on the first test I had left the tab open so I spotted the results eventually. I then tested it systematically.

After that first search, it is very fast. Seems like the results are displayed almost instantly. I wonder could there be some sort of caching issue?

That might be the problem. Just type you search in the MIMF search box! Not in your browser search

Yes, I'm using the MIMF search function but my internet browser is duck-duck go. Using the modifiers, even the example given, doesn't work.

Just tried again before posting. Using the MIMF search engine checking the box “whole words only” and typing in the example returns “no results found.”

Am using iPad 11.

Some of the search pages never got updated from http to https (my bad). I've just updated them now (be sure to do a refresh in your browser), so let me know if that helps (or hurts!).

I am not real knowledgeable about Duck Duck Go, but isn't it just a search engine and not a browser? If so, then you do not need to bringing DDG into the equation. The question would be, what browser program are you using?

Yeah, Safari is a browser and that is what I use on my Mac. You should not use Duck Duck Go.

Duck Duck Go is a search engine, not a browser. It may be what he has set for his home page, but that will not affect the MIMF search engine. Safari, Chrome/Chromium, or Firefox should all work equally well on a Mac for the browser.
