Hello, all. General-purpose DIY builder/experimenter/inventor here. Background in electronics and computers, long-time player of electric guitar. Recently became interested in Baroque instruments, especially harpsichord. I've built one keyboard instrument already, experimental harpsichord-like instrument with hammer action. Plan to build a few other strange and unique keyboard-driven ideas.
Also have a passion for cello and upright bass, bowed. Thinking about ways to convert an electric bass into an instrument suitable for bowing, primarily through replacing/reshaping the fretboard. I made a blog documenting my explorations into the geometry issues: I'd welcome any comments or pointers to similar work. All caveats apply since I have never built any bowed instruments of any kind, I'm just an interested outsider trying to learn something before I start actually cutting wood...
