Jay Turner JT-Res resonator replacement

Post by brian gardiner »

Wondering if anyone has swapped out a resonator on a JT-Res, and did a standard spider resonator fit in that thin body?

I have no idea but I can't believe that Turner would spin his own cones AND make a special spider to fit. I have an old Dobro that has the original spider but upgraded to a Quarterman cone - I would be happy to take some measurement if you would like. A couple of things that might be significant - spiders do not have the deep rim recess that a biscuit does, if I recall it is about 1/4 inch deep. Also, the cone is concave with a raised center section - it really doesn't sit all the deep in the well.
