Binding fretboard before or after?

Do you bind your fretboard before or after you glue it to the roughed neck? I've only done single binding fretboards and done them both ways, but now I am doing a three layer multiple binding board so I need to bind the W-B pair on each side, radius the board, saw the fret slots through that binding, then add the outer layer of white. Seems cumbersome either way, which is preferred?
