Whatever became of?
The Stew Mac set of tools that would cut the "slot", and then cut the spline to repair cracks in say a spruce top?

I'll bet stewmac could answer that directly or we could all give our best guesses without factual information to back them up. It seems like the latter approach has become more popular in recent times.
