Corrosion-like stuff on wood inside instruments

Post by Kory Pevoto »

I figured this should be it's own thread. The following picture is another that I took while examining the output jack on my ESP LTD F-405FM. The white-colored stuff you see must be some sort of mold or mildew and I was wondering if anybody else has encountered this before, if it will contribute to further corrosion of the brand new output jack I just got in the mail, and how best to clean/remove it.

Buffing compound?
-Ruining perfectly good wood, one day at a time.

Yeah, probably buffing compound and maybe a bit of oversprayed finish. That is fairly normal on factory instruments. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you. I guess I'll go ahead and put the new Switchcraft 12B in.
