I have to wire a stock sttrat and the owner wants to use a different ohm rated volume pot to accentuate knob swells! Which value pot works best.which tone cap value should be used he said danny gatton may have used a different value and he was great at knob swells.

I think that has more to do with the taper of the pot than the ohm rating. Audio and Linear taper are two most used, and I think the player would have to try them and see what he likes best. This sounds like a personal preference type thing to me.

A quick google pulls up a bunch of discussions on other forums, many on tdpri, and it looks like people agree that Gatton's tone "wah" effect was achieved with a 1meg pot and a .05 cap. There is disagreement about whether he used a 250k or 500k pot on the volume.
