Broken neck block on Gretsch arch top…best fix

I have a '59 Gretsch Double Anniversary in the shop that has a broken neck block. I just want confirmation…The only proper way to fix this is to remove the back and replace the block…yes?

Well, you might want to show us a few more photos.
I think that you have other choices. If you can get good glue in there, you may be able to clamp it- you might have to invent a clever clamping set up. I think I would try a few things if I could before removing the back, if things don't work out, then you can go deeper.

I did a neck reset on this a few years ago and the client was happy with it until he dropped it.

It looks like you can get glue in there. And you may be able to drill a 1/4" hole in the block and using a bolt inside backed with a big washer you could pull it closed for some clamping pressure. Then dowel the hole after you're done.
