The 2016 Northwest Handmade Musical Instrument Exhibit is right around the corner, Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1, from noon to 5:00 at Marylhurst University, just south of Portland.
http://www.nwmusicalinstrumentshow.org/
I'm proud to be exhibiting with MIMF regulars (and veterans) including David King, Loren Schulte, Mike Doolin, Chet Bishop, Larry Davis, and Pat Foster. And there are about 70 more amazing builders and vendors, including names like Saul Koll, Jeffrey Elliot, Ted Megas, and John Greven (just for starters). Man, we have some great folks in this corner!
$3.00 admission, and kiddos under 12 are free. See you there!

Coming out of "retirement" for this one and will be lots of fun!! I cut some special stuff to show including QS black and white ebony sets and matching head plates and finger boards. Will be showing some harp guitar sets I've been having fun with.

Damn, I've not taken nearly enough pictures. I'll be sure to get away from table more today to try to capture some of the great work I've seen around me.

You probably wanted to see photos of instruments but I mostly took photos of people:
Here L to R: Saul Koll, Kerry Char and Jason Bowerman towards the end of the day

I made a lap or two to get some shots of instruments and their people, if they were at the table. Back to work this morning, so I'll get pics resized and posted soon.

Ok, I pulled some pics off of my phone. Here we go...
The exhibit hall at Marylhurst. I heard the gals at the admissions table saying we had 461 visitors the first day, and we easily had that the second day. Good turnout!
From behind my table cluster, Loren Schulte and Mike Propsom playing scratch n' sniff with some yellow cedar.
Loren's table.
Mike's table.
My table.

At the next table cluster over was David King.
Stephen Boone.
Mike Doolin.
Chris Klumper, Luthier Tool Company.
And Tom Harper.

At the other table cluster area, Saul Koll.
And Jayson Bowerman right next door.
Chet Bishop was on the other side.
Almost forgot Brooks Oslen, across from David.
And for the life of me, I thought I had snapped a shot of Pat Foster's instruments. Dang it, sorry Pat!

On Saturday, some folks came over to my place for a little happy hour (we live just over a mile up the road). We'll do this again next time.
Brooks brought his boy and his buddy Colton.
And Stephen came with fellow Montana builder Steve (forgot his last name).
This was my second time showing, and not only did I have a couple more instruments, but I felt a lot more comfortable talking with folks about my work. No sales, but I did some good networking, got some great feedback when people tried them out, and I might even have a pickup winding project down the road. The biggest value in this show, of course, is connecting and reconnecting with the amazing lutherie community we have here in the northwest. I feel fortunate to know these people.

Looks like a great time. A mini GAL convention - showroom only.
I will be there some day.

Well, I thought I had my focus set to Auto, and it wasn't, so yours came out all blurry. Sorry, Jason!
