Want to get this look

I'm near the finishing stage of a korina wood flat top electric similar to the guitar in this eBay auction. And I'm looking to achieve a similar look except that I want the pores filled much darker (black) than the guitar pictured and I'm wondering what material to use. I'll be using KTM 9 from Stewmac on top.

If the pores are large and deep enough, you could spray on several coats of white, then after it's dry scrape on black with a credit card. Any residual black not in the pores could be sanded back to the white.

As always, test on scrap.

Your local hardware store should have a selection of oil based and water based pore fillers to choose from. Follow the directions on the can, and let it all dry a few days before using your water based finish.

Look for "ceruse" on youtube and you'll see lots of variations and how to get to them. It works well on ash, mahogany and walnut but won't do much on closed grain woods like alder, maple and poplar.
