The Woodwright's Shop - The Musical

Post by Bryan Bear »

Yesterday I discovered the PBS station on my Roku device and looked up The Woodwright's Shop with Roy Underhill (I love that show). As luck would have it, of the 30 years of episodes the show has been on, the first one that popped up was called The Musical. I had never seen this episode before but it is my new favorite. he doesn't really do a project or have a particular task to highlight, it is more a humorous stream of consciousness about his tools with a live musical soundtrack. I loved the music! As it turned out the group was called Underhill Rose (Roy's daughter on banjo) and the songs were their songs with the words changed to be about woodworking. I hadn't heard of this group before but I created a pandora station based on their music and have been enjoying it all day. If you get a chance, check this episode out.

just now watched it. I was very impressed. The music was awesome and so easy to listen to, (the girls weren't that hard to look at either) but I really loved the way Roy did everything right in time with the lyrics. He even sawed the board on beat with the song at one point. The overall flow was very good, felt natural. I give it two stars and five thumbs up!
