converting a strat pu to a tele bridge pu
I have a set of Seymour antiquity strat pups. They are the original 50's versions. I want to put the bridge pu in a tele bridge. Can I just glue the tele plate to the bottom of the pu or is there more to the conversion?

I am just wondering if you can take a strat pickup and glue that tele bridge plate to the bottom and install?

Does it fit in the tele now? If it does then I suppose it would work. Put tape over the bottom of the pickup to isolate the plate from the magnets, and then glue the plate on the bottom with some type of easily removable glue. If the plate is loose it will rattle and cause feedback. And make sure that you solder the ground wire to the plate, this is how the string ground is established. The tape on the bottom keeps the magnets from being grounded.

I haven't bought the bridge yet Mark, because if this won't work, then will use a strat fixed bridge.
Seymour Duncan made the Tele-Gib for Jeff Beck. I am taking the concept and reversing it to make a Gib-Tele-Strat. I do have a tele bridge pickup, but don't want to break up my SM strat set if possible. I will try it and if it doesn't work, then either modify the bridge or go to a different bridge till something works.

Even if it fits you may need to flip the magnet poles to get reverse pole- reverse wind (RPRW) i.e. hum canceling.
I do this with a stack of little round rare earth magnets on each end of each pole. N52 neodymiums about 2" worth on each side and 1/4" in diameter does a pretty good job of it.

Re: converting a strat pu to a tele bridge pu
the reason I posted this discussion was thinking that I could just slap on a brass tele plate on the bottom of a strat bridge pickup and put it into a vintage style tele bridge.
I no longer feel it viable. The purpose being was to use this strat set of pups that I have had likely 20yrs for a project. As far as this particular project, I am just going to use a traditional tele bridge pickup. The theme of the guitar is a take off of Semour Duncan's Tele Gib guitar he made.
So mine is called Gib/tele/strat. So thanks for the help, it did really help and will choose more conventional pickups without install problems.
