Got set of Waverly tuners in yard sale-need input

Waverly Tuners.jpg
I got a set of waverly tuners in a yard sale. On the side of the box is written "Set No 4065". Don't know if someone may have purchased a set and replaced the ones that are in this box, however, they look new. What can you experts tell me about them? see pic.

What you got is a set of Kluson machines that the Waverlys replaced. Those are OK machines if not worn out. Could be good historically correct replacements for some guitars made between around 1950 and present.

I was going to say they look like vintage Kluson style tuners. Yeah, so they're not Waverlys... that's okay... here's how I reason: if these are the tuners that were replaced by the Waverleys they must come from a good quality guitar. Anything else would be putting a gold ring in a pig's snout. While the Waverlys are a clear upgrade these are probably very good tuners as well.
or maybe someone put a gold ring in a pig's snout and you've got yourself some cheap, Kluson knock-off imports.

Klusons were on a lot of nice guitars. If you got these at a typical garage sale price, just hang onto them until the right project comes up.
They might not be the ultimate Rolls Royce sort of tuner, but they are perfectly serviceable. I've got an old Gibson flat top with Klusons. Never saw a need to change them out.

Don't knock 'em- original Klusons are worth quite a bit on the vintage market.

On the underside of the base, do they say "Pat. Appld" or "Patent No."?
