I'm intrigued by the Alden Duesenberg and Zemaitis pearl shell guitars and think it would be a great challenge to build one. Ive noticed different shell layouts, some with parallel spacing and some with angled spacing. I suppose they all are computer layouts, but back when Zemaitis did them early on, I bet they were layed out by hand and eye. What would be the best way to start, besides knowing your shell sizes of course.
Also what material is in between the shell, filling the space? Has anyone here done one?
shell top guitar -ever lay one out?
