Top wood

I'm putting material together for my next build. Not sure what size I'm going with. So far I have Cherry back and sides, Mahogany neck Rosewood finger board and bridge. I purchased a Bearclaw Canadian spruce top. Is bearclaw spruce OK?

I assume that by "Canadian spruce" you mean the same wood that I call Sitka spruce. And yeah, Sitka spruce is a very nice soundboard wood. And bearclaw figure is very pretty. Go for it!

Bearclaw tops are often a bit denser than straight grained wood, and tend to have somewhat lower long grain stiffness. You might want to leave it just a bit thicker than usual. I've always liked the sound of bearclaw tops: probably listening with my eyes.

I have built several guitars with bearclaw spruce, from our sponsor Alaska Specialty Woods, bearclaw is very nice. You should be happy with it.
