schatten thumb wheel vol and tone installation

Post by Greg Martin »

Hello, Id like to use the schatten thumb wheel controls Stewmac sells and I see double sided tape for holding the thing in place ,that scares me . Since the guitar is a customers not mine I would hope there is a better more secure way to mount the controls, Anyone have a slick way to mount these ?? thanks

Wipe the mounting surface with alcohol and let it dry just before applying the control, and firmly squeeze the parts together for a minute. Get it positioned correctly so you don't have to remove it and reposition it or the adhesive will be less effective.

I have usually make my own control configuration and fasten to the guard with tiny screws.

Double-sided tapes have come a long way! I'd use it, just consider that a lot of car companies use tape to hold badges/rub strips to bodywork. It'll be fine as long as you keep the faith - cleanliness is everything!
