Have you got a chain saw? You could go get your own wood if you know who to ask and what papers to fill out. Start with a university forestry department.

I used to get wood from Don Musser, Liz Sedler, and Larry Pogreba. Contact any luthery schools for sources. There is a lot of engelmann spruce in the Rockies.

Don and Larry used to be in Colorado when I dealt with them. Go looking for a saw mill. Contact the Wood Mizer or other saw company for a list of folks that have their saws, as they often sell wood. Engelmann spruce from the lower elevations is often lighter in weight and softer than the stuff from higher elevations.

Greg, I'm in COS as well.

There's a guy up near Highlands Ranch by the name of Simion Chambers who has local woods.

He also has a store on Ebay: Simeon Chambers Tonewood Store.

He'll also custom cut for you.

If you are interested in cutting up a tree sometime, maybe we should connect?
