Metal Cleaning

I recently got a very old Banjeurine, and would like some suggestions for cleaning the metal hooks, brackets, rim etc. I don't want to use any abrasive polishes if at all possible. Any ideas? Thanks

Start with white vinegar. It will help with any rusty areas (hooks etc.) and also corrosion of brass.

Ammonia also works on brass.

put a can of diet coke in a pot. heat it up and dump the metal bits in. Comes out clean as a whistle
