uhmw rosette jig

Hello,
Back with another silly question but one I need answered.
I built a UHMW plastic jig to do an abalone rosette. See photo. BUT, I don't remember how I used it.
I know I did a build up in the dado I made with my dremel circle cutter and somehow put the abalone segments and BWB purfling around the abalone.
My Question for those that have used this technique. Should I put the abalone and the purfling into the jig and then flood with CA glue and pop it out to use in the similar dado I made on the guitar top. I know i popped it out by pushing the underneath through that wedge shaped opening. My memory seems to have dead spots.
The rosette turned out great. see pic. .
I think my recent cataract surgery has addled my brain. I now see with one eye clearly at distance but have not had the other eye done yet. I know my brain is letting some stuff thru. and other stuff is suppressing BUT you probably don't care about that.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who forgets how I did something on a previous guitar. I take lots of notes and pictures but still have this problem. : )

Those are the things that make up chords! I know how to make notes, but taking notes eludes me.

Sometimes I look for a jig or method, and find that I make a better tool the next time around, or find a better solution to the problem.

I have always used your polyethylene cutting board method for rosettes, but I've never tried to fit an old rosette into a new top. I always cut a new trough in the poly at the same time I cut the corresponding trough in the top so that the rosette built in the poly will fit exactly into the top. I think it would be pretty hard to make it an exact fit otherwise.

I got it made and it turned out well. Just crammed the prebent bwb .060 in , pushed the abalone tiles in between and flooded with thin CA glue. It popped right out and then i cut the matching dado for the rosette and it fit pretty well. No significant gaps. Glued it in and have sanded down to it even without taking too much abalone.

here are a couple pictures.
One just after gluing in (i used too much glue - just enough to keep it together) and one after sanding the top to final thickness. These are cellphone photos so not he best quality.
