I put together a quick minute and a half video detailing how to make a new "quick acting" spool clamp if anyone has an interest.

Looks good!
I am a little confused about the picture on the video.
The bolt part which you saw up, you cut away both sides, and leave a little connection in the center?

Re: Spool Clamp idea
The coupling nut part is the part that is sawed and shaped. The center area is drilled out (on an angle) so the coupling nut can slip over the bolt or all thread rod when it is angled. The remaining threads at each end are what key to the bolt threads when it is re-oriented in its normal plane. The center portion of the coupling nut must remain intact, as that keeps the remaining threaded portion at each end of the coupling nut in correct alignment.Steve Senseney wrote:Looks good!

I like this idea. I use my spool clamps a lot and it is always a pain running them up and down the rods.
