Help with Identifying a brand logo

I go around the yard sales and flea markets buying up "parts" to build cigar box guitars. I came upon this neck and started to do some restoration work. It's a mahogany bolt on neck, and was painted with dark green automotive paint. When I scraped the headstock I came upon a very nicely done pearl inlay logo. It's a brand that I'm not familiar with, but the craftsmanship just screams quality. Does anybody recognize this brand and can give me a little background on it?

By seeing the Gibson shaped peghead and the rest of the features there I can guess that it's a Japanese Gibson clone of some kind.

There is no serial number that I can find... think it might be one of the early Ibanez "Lawsuit" guitars?
I usually will remove brand logos and change the peg head shape a bit when I re-purpose such necks.
This is the first I've come across with pearl inlay, I wonder if it is obscure enough to leave it, or should I cover the peg head with a veneer?
Being it will be used in a novelty CBG build, I don't think there is much danger in violating any trademarks, but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

If it were an Ibanez lawsuit guitar then it would say Ibanez on it.
Have you searched Google for Pan guitar? I did, this is one of the many hits.

That's a "P" ???
I searched for San, Qan, Can... and started pouring through Images of just Vintage Guitar Logos looking for something that matched.
I'll call this one of my "Senior Moments".
Thanks Mark

I thought that was an "S" as well. Of course if I were to design a logo based on a foreign-to-me alphabet I might have caused similar confusion.

I've seen that logo before a couple times... I'm pretty sure Mark is right about it being "PAN".

One look at that headstock and man do the memories come back. Back in Jr High, there was a store near my house where several Pan guitars hung. I remember several looked like Gibson SGs. I had no means, so I just did a lot of looking.

Looks like the ol' Hofner "staples" single coil pickups.
