Making wood tuning buttons.

I am looking for some info about making wood tuning buttons. I have seen some for sale that don't have a metal sleeve inside. Is this acceptable? I would feel more comfortable with tubing inside, but not sure how to make the flats to fit the peg. Any help is appreciated. Probably use Coco bolo, so it can be brittle.

Thanks,
kev

Don't worry about flats or metal sleeves, just epoxy the buttons to the shafts and you will be good. (clean the metal first)

Concern yourself with getting the buttons cut out and drilled evenly.

Chris Paulick, a member here, made a great video some time back on how he makes tuner buttons. Well worth a search(perhaps you'll need to search youtube)...
