What model turner doe you guys use for intonation?

Yikes. Do you mean what kind of "tuner"? Any good tuner will work just fine.

I recently used g-strings tuner.... free android app on my phone to intonate a buddy's LP.
But seriously it worked fine.

That won't work for me I don't own a cell phone.

You can get a cheap Korg chromatic tuner an that will work fine. Any decent tuner will work and you don't have to spend a ton of money, it's a tool you will use over and over.

I like the little cheap blue Snark tuner. It clips on to the headstock and allows you to tune your guitar even in a noisy venue. It is cheap enough to not stress over losing it, and it does work fairly well.

I like the Snark tuners too. The thing is, I wouldn't get a tuner that just tunes the six notes of a guitar string- I think that's the blue one- and the red one is fully chromatic. You should have a chromatic tuner for adjusting intonation.

agreed. that snark is really good. I love it. that is, when I don't have access to my cell phone.

It might have become a bit out of fashion, but occasionally i am still using a tuning fork and my ears...

I don't think my ears are as good as they use to be! I too use a red Snark.

The blue snark is fully chromatic. The red one I have doesn't seem to cover as wide a range (it has trouble "hearing" the bass strings on my harp guitar) and doesn't seem to respond as quickly as the blue one does. But it could be a battery problem. Snark tuners may be like M&M's, the same flavor in a different colored shell.

no no no Clay. you're wrong. Everyone knows that the red ones are red chalky chocolate, the yellow are yellow chalky chocolate, the green are green chalky chocolate, blue chalky chocolate and of course ozzy osbourne's favorite, the brown chalky chocolate. All different flavors of cheap, low quality chalky chocolate... they just happen to all taste exactly the same.
I think the green ones are the best.

I'm happy with almost any chromatic clip-on tuner that has a lcd needle indicator as opposed to just flat, in-tune and sharp leds. When I have problems tuning bass strings, I use chimes. I like the Korgs with a real needle though they're not clip on.

If the former: I use a Korg.
If the latter: I have not done anything like that yet so no idea.

I believe they are talking about intonation, since that is the title of the thread. You can use a tuner for either one, tuning or intonation, though I just use my ear for both.

You can get a strobe tuner app for the new phones that hook up to the internet. I have a Peterson Strobo Flip and find it is a bit too sensitive and picks up too much interfering noise, but a friend has a new phone with the Peterson strobe tuner app, and it works much better than my desk top Peterson. Fancy that!

I can't hear the difference between a note that is true and one that is a couple cents off, but if I play two notes I can hear if they are the same by listening for the beats. It is easier to hear the beats that occur when the notes are slightly different than it is to hear slightly off pitch. The beats are faster the farther apart the notes are, slow as the notes near each other, and stop when they are the same.

I use a cheap Korg for everyday tuning (and may try one of those Snarks someday). For fine tuning and intonation, I use the even cheaper Tune Lab 97. They also have apps for Android and SmartPhones.

If I forget my chaeapo clip-on for band practice, the "G-string" app for my android phone works fine. However, for set-ups I still prefer my old Peterson V-sam. Its quite bulky, and too sensitive to be practical for normal tuning, but I feel it gives me much better control than ordinary tuners for this task.
