I think this would be totally missed in the MIMF classifieds:

It looks like an industrious guy passed away suddenly, and unfortunately the family can't find someone to carry on in his footsteps, and so his shop is up for auction. There's no reserve!

Aside from the obvious Powermatic goodies, I think that one of those Oliver lathes could provide some enjoyable distraction, and the Walker-Turner(?) drill press looks like it's still useful, or the other one in the far corner would be useful too.

>>But the value is in the smaller tools and widgets.

It is quite difficult to actually see much because the camera is out of focus and moving too fast. Makes me motion sick almost. The sale would go much better with a better video.

Here's the auction listing:

It looks like there's an Emmert Vise in there too.

A serious case of TAS - tool acquisition syndrome. I can't count high enough to say how many routers he had.

Is this the guy that was talked about in another thread as being in northern Minnesota?

Dan, this is in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is nice suburb of Grand Rapids, and there are many fine homes there. I think maybe the guy was a contractor who did custom restoration millwork, or maybe he owned one of the homes. Here in Detroit, I bought some things from a guy who was a professional financial administrator of some sort. He had a bought one of the mansions in Indian Village and restored it by making all of the millwork in his extraordinary basement shop. He did a beautiful job.

This is Mark Swanson's territory. Maybe I'll drop him a PM. I'd like to go, but I've been out sick from my job for the past week and just can't stay out any longer.

Yes, Bob. I know where East Grand Rapids is. I lived in Lansing for 30 years. Then moved to Minnesota.

The question I was asking was, could this be the same guy from Johnny Angels post, or do we have a serial killer thinning out the luthier herd in the upper midwest.
