Hi Robert,
Not sure if you realise that you did, but please don't post multiple duplicates of the same topic. It makes extra work for the staff and can make for some very disjointed conversations. I've deleted the duplicates.

In regards to your question, we've just put together an FAQ on the topic. This should guide you through the process.
If you have any further questions, post them here.

Thanks.

I use a free utility program called "Irfanview".

I second the recommendation of Irfanview. I've used it for years and it's a great little program. You can't edit individual pixels but it's hard to beat for things like cropping, resizing, and color correction.

+2 on Irfanview. I use it constantly for graphic file browsing, resizing, etc.

David, look under the Edit menu, for Show Paint Dialog (F12). You can actually paint and annotate, even if that is not the program's main focus.

Thanks Jim! I knew that a very limited editing function was added some time ago but I hadn't realized how much it would now do. It just keeps getting better and I missed that one.

"Image Resizer Powertoy for Windows XP" is on Cnet. If you aren't using XP, but Vista/7, you can still find one by Windows.

The 'powertoys' were apps that the msft geeks were using themselves. Msft never made use of them so (from my understanding) they 'released' them with caveats of "use at your own risk".

I put jpgs in a folder and right click on one or many and the menu that shows has 'resize pictures'. I get to choose from several preset sizes, or a custom feature.

If you are on Vista you have to find the one for Vista, which will work with sys7 (which tells you that in reality, sys7 is Vista 3). Not sure about 8, but probably will be functional.
