I thought I read sometime back about someone using jewelers rouge for finishing acoustic bridges. Anybody recall it? Usually its meant for metals.

I find mezerna a better product for buffing using an arbor buffer. It is designed for wood. Jewelers rouge is a very fine abrasive. You can find may useful buffing and polishing compounds at auto supply stores.

Do you mean bridges or saddles? For wood, I agree it wouldn't polish much, and the grease binder would also likely get into pores and mess up the finish. For saddles or nuts, you would also find it getting into all the scratches left by previous coarser polishing materials, leaving a reddish "foxing" that would leave the white bone or plastic looking dirty. I agree, auto body polish or even toothpaste will work better.

For bridges, saddles and nuts i like to use Micro Mesh or the 3M polishing papers. Brings them up to a very nice gloss
