Hi ,

I have noticed recently that a couple of words in various posts are highlighted as links. When followed the links take one to a content provider's 'contest' page. :o

I can't imagine that this is a Forum policy..

But Is it?

or is there some malware on my computer (a mac)?

Thanks,
Rob.

Could you please provide a link to a page that does this? Did you get to the MIMF from a search engine? If you close all MIMF tabs, open an new tab, and go to MIMF.com directly do you still get them?

It sounds to me like "adwords," which is technology used by every major search engine to change words that some company has paid to divert into a link of the advertiser's choosing, regardless of the source page. That is a function of the search engine and has nothing to do with the MIMF, nor do we have any control over it. The various search engines may have ways of opting out, but they will vary from engine to engine.

I use a mac and have never seen that here. I have a two or more ad-blockers and javascript blockers installed in Safari and the same in firefox when I use it. That helps a lot. ("adblock" and "ghostery" are two plug-ins that come to mind.).

That occurred to me a few days ago. I managed to search on the net and found a way to get rid of the small plug-in that was causing the problem.

Can't remember what it was called however!
