Great set of photos. Thanks. Some very interesting methods. Lots of useful tips. I would not have the patience to mitre fit the thin white line in purfling separately. However, I can see why it is a very clever/good idea.

Hi Charlie, I just looked at the photo essay, I have to say it should be included in any reprints of Williams book,it just reminded me so much of my first experiences with Mr Cumpiano. With the book and your essay anyone could make a first foray into guitar making with confidence, well done.John

I learned from the books by Cumpiano, Sloane, and Jonathan Kinkead. Though I was a "Blue Ribbon" winner in woodworking prior 1970 and an old hand at scenery and properties shop production during the Regan/Thatcher/Evita/Little Shop Of Horrors/Nine era, I am still learning lutherie and would not hesitate to study at any number of schools. Money well spent, lad.
