I went to my local blueprint shop yesterday with a plan I had developed in AutoCad to have it plotted. The shop could not read the .dwg file but the youngster at the counter was able to convert it to a .pdf file which he was then able to plot. I understand the preferred format would be a .dwf file. Can anyone tell me how to convert the .dwg file to a .dwf file? I have AutoCad 2007 if that makes a difference. Interestingly, the .pdf did not insert the academic version border that I always get when I plot the .dwg files.
If I can convert this I have a body template and the brace details for a Macafferri guitar that I would be willing to share with the forum if anyone is interested. Thanks

Al,
Any DWG to DWF Converter has a free version, good for 30 conversions.

Although I haven't used it personally, Autodesk's (the maker of Autocad) Design Review is free, and can allegedly plot dwfs directly.

Re: AutoCad help, Converting file formats
Thanks J. C. the Autodesk download works well. A heads up though. It converted all my existing files to what is labeled .dwg True View format. If I click on the drawing now, it opens in True View and cannot be modified. I have to open my Auto Cad program first now and then open the files from there if I want to work on them. Not a big deal but enough to have caused a moment of panic thinking I had downloaded a file perverter instead of a file converter. Actually, I think I got 2 programs the Design Review and one called True View but all is well; thanks again.

Re: AutoCad help, Converting file formats
Right click the file name that keeps coming up in TrueView. Then use "Open With" to select regular AutoCad (in lieu of the new TrueView default). From then on, the file is reassociated to the AutoCad application.
