Osage orange back & side set

Post by Charlie Schultz »

This osage orange back and side set is donated by Bob Gramman (thanks Bob!). Estimated value is $200, so we'll start the auction at $100. Bob says this is from osage orange grown in King George, VA and he has made some nice guitars from it. Dimensions are: 4.75” x 34” x 0.119” and 8.5” x 24.75” x 0.165”. US shipping only.

Aw, come on, guys. This is my magic wood. It makes wonderful sounding guitars and it’s close to unobtanium. As it ages, it gets more and more golden. It bends nicely and dulls all your cutting edges.

This is so tempting!
I used to make toys and bows and walking sticks out of Osage back in the 90s. It’s nice, but tough on tools.

Thanks!
I was going to bid, even though I don’t have a build planned, but kept looking at thinking that this would be perfect for an ABG.
