Solid Wood Amplifier Cabinet

Hello!
Does anybody here has experience with solid woods on amplifier cabinets?
I'm ordering a 4x12" cabinet and may use solid woods on it and have no idea at all how it works on speakers.
I play on a short scale guitar, with a Duncan Invader pickups and my speakers are like a fatter version of Vintage30, so I was thinking in something to help give more clarity to the tone... Harder or softer is better?

THe choice of speaker element in combination with cab size and design, is vastly more important than the choice of wood....
