"Bella"

Post by Jeff Pierce »

This one was inspired by the 1956 Chevy Bel Air. It was my first attempt at a paint job. It has a solid poplar body with polished aluminum trim, ebony neck and maple fretboard, G&L bridge, Gohtoh tuners and Dimarzio Air Classic humbuckers.

Cool vibe! I like that you used boxcars to mark the 12th!

Well done Jeff, the design and finish really does capture the vintage "vibe" as Bryan puts it, of a Red 56 Bel Air. Nice bit of work!

Spot on! You’ve done some nice design work on your instruments- it’d be easy for a guitar like this to be hokey or “off.” Nice job!

Thanks so much, guys. I really appreciate the feedback. I wanted to pick up enough design elements to be recognizable without being too literal. If it ended up looking like a cutout of a car with a neck stuck on it, it definitely would have been in the "hokey" realm. I almost didn't do the dice inlay because I thought it might be too kitchy. I'm glad I let several friends talk me into it.
