Black limba acoustic

Post by Andy Bounsall »

I haven’t posted a completed build for quite a while so I thought I’d post a few pics of this, one of two recently completed guitars. This one is a grand auditorium sized body in black limba with a lutz spruce top. Neck is also black limba. Fretboard is ziricote bound in ebony. Bridge is also ziricote and yes, that grain pattern is naturally occurring. Scale is 25 1/4”. I’m also experimenting with shooting guitar photos against a newly acquired seamless background. Pretty pleased with the results so far. Enjoy!

Gorgeous guitar Andy. How well does the Limba bend?

I didn’t know of limba before this post. A good introduction, thanks.

Also my autocorrect doesn’t seem to know “Kim bad” either.

Thank you for the kind words.
My impression of black limba is that it’s quite similar to mahogany in terms of weight and workability. A bit easier to bend perhaps as it didn’t seem to have the same tendency to compress on the inside of a tighter curve
