Veneer Info.
I've been looking for black veneer for neck laminations & there are a lot of Solid wood reconstituted dyed veneers.
What is meant by reconstituted? & is it strong enough for a laminated neck?

Re: Veneer Info.
Reconstituted wood products include OSB, MDF, particle board, flakeboard, fiberboard, waferboard, and other products made from smaller pieces of wood glued back together. I might consider it for a peghead veneer but would be reluctant to use it for a stressed joint. YMMV

Thanks, Clay, I guess I should have figured that out for myself since all of the reconstituted wood is dyed - No grain.

Re: Veneer Info.
The spectraply is normally used for laminated rifle stocks, I started a semi hollow tele out of it. I also brought in some of their Dymalux as a fretboard substitute . Initial tests show promise.
Here's the Tele

Yes It was a 2 " slab 24"x 36" I got from a now defunct business. I cut a 1/4 " cap off , hollowed out the body like a thinline and replaced the cap. It had to be planed on a bias or it would show only one color

Re: Veneer Info.
There's no indication on the site that Cousineau will sell individual dyed veneer sheets, only their finished product.

Re: Veneer Info.
Certainly wood carries thicker veneers and they have some black dyed poplar that is about .041 thick. I bought some 1/16" thick veneer from them before and it was excellent quality.
