sharpening?

ideas for sharpening the blades in a "peg shaver" please Jigs? Fixtures?

It looks like if you can remove the blades it can be done easily by hand. Or, cut a piece of thin board the size of a #4 plane iron and screw the blade to the end of it. Sharpen as you would a plane iron or wide chisel.

The blade on my peg shaver is held on by two end cap bolts, so the blade can be easily removed for sharpening with an Allen wrench.

If your blade cannot be removed, you can use a variation on the Scary-Sharp sandpaper sharpening trick by getting some old pegs and gluing bands of various grits of sandpaper around them so they will contact the blade. Insert in the peg shaver, but rotate in the OPPOSITE direction you would turn the pegs. Obviously start with the lower grits and work up to 200 or so.

Would this not bevel the flat side of the blade?
