Want to try making a hammer dulcimer?

If it's not a guitar or a bass guitar discussion, and it's got strings, put it here.

Want to try making a hammer dulcimer?

Post by Doug Shaker »

I am cleaning my garage out and found a box of running pegs, a tuning lever, and four rolls of music wire (sizes 7 to 10).

Any one want to try making a hammer dulcimer? I'll mail you the stuff. First claim gets it.

Whew! I was having a "get-thee-behind-me-Satan" moment for the last 32 hours. :? :)

I've always thought that hammer dulcimers are one of the coolest instruments. They're on my list of blue-sky "maybe I'll try one of those someday" builds, along with a Chapman Stick.

I was also close to taking it, but resisted in order to let someone with more immediate plans take it. I’ve got too many plans on my list as it is...
