Damn, only 69! Bill was a fixture around here early on. When I search something in the Old Library, it's hard not to find one of his posts. I didn't know about his career in technology journalism. I just thought he built cool guitars.

He was also well known for his work on Fender amps, through his company Billm Audio. His mod for the Fender Blues jr. amp (google "Bill M mod") is quite famous, rumor has is Fender stole or borrowed it for their Blues Jr III. He will be sorely missed in that part of the world also.

Wow - when I was more deeply mired in the technology world, Bill was my favorite columnist. I was pleasantly surprised to find him hanging out here, amazed that our interests would touch at multiple points.

Sad that I won't have the chance to get to know him better via this forum.

He was an active participant here for years. Many of us had the pleasure of meeting him at various MIMF gatherings and keeping up with him over the years. What a shame to lose him!

I'm sorry to hear this. Bill was a real valuable participant in the MIMF, and helped me by hosting photos of my bandsaw when I didn't know how to post them a number of years ago. He will be missed.

As a software engineer and subscriber to PC Mag in the past when I was more hardware orientated I remember Bill's writing and was surprised to see him on this forum. Akin to discovering that Donald Knuth whose data structure theory we studied at University was also a contributor to Mad Magazine.

He will be missed!
