Well crap......

Burned through the burst while scuff sanding. Going to try to fix it with the airbrush or else it will be the third time sanding the burst off to try again.

This is why I hate finishing.

It can be hard to get enough clear on there before sanding. The sharper edges are particularly hard, don't sand them at all. Before you try touching anything with the airbrush, try brushing some dark color very carefully on the sand through first.

Or try putting a little on a rag, almost dry, and wiping it on in multiple light passes.

what sort of rag? like a terry cloth or t-shirt type material? My thought on the airbrush would be to turn it way down on the paint flow way down so that I can get closer and have a narrow spray pattern

Did a bit of touch up with a brush then blended it with the airbrush. Looks good. Also put more clear shellac over the edges this time

When I spray a burst, one, two, or three colors, I spray two or three coars of clear, sand lightly, then a color.
Then two or 3 more coats of lacquer, sand again, and the second color.
I find that prevents me from sanding into the color.
It also seems to give the colors depth.

I had put some clear over the burst. Just not enough! This time I believe there is enough. And I will take it easy on the scuff sanding this time.

so far so good, did 1500 grit auto grade sandpaper last night. going to use 2000, then polish with some spiffy meguires products.

Vol/tone and a 5 way 4 pole prs style rotary switch.

I wired a baritone this way and really liked the tones that were available

Beautiful job! I really like that burst.

I notice that you went with a "heel-less" neck like the Fly. But Parker reinforced that join with a shell of carbon fiber. I'm no expert on the design, but I assume Ken Parker felt that was necessary. I note you didn't do that. You just have the maple. Can you share what your thoughts on why you didn't think it was necessary?

I thickened it up some in the heel area to be safe. So far it does not appear to be an issue. Tuning stability is good and it feels Sid when I try to bend it
