What ever happened to...
That Stew Mac tool set that cut a groove into a top or back, and then made a matching "splint" to fit?

I believe that is the Ibex crack repair set, and you can buy it from Pilgrims Projects on Ebay. SM carries a newer set developed by TJ Thompson.

Sorry...not really for the top crack itself - more the reinforcement. SM carries a power knife attachment to make the cut and tapered wedges are pretty easy to make with tablesaw. Really no replacement for the tool, but other ways to do it.
